How to shoot a 360 Tour
Making a 360 tour is easy!
360 tours are a revolutionary way to showcase your luxury home or property. Gone are the days of static, boring slideshows of dry, colorless images. No longer will buyers or renters have to sift through a confusing assortment of images that supposedly represent your luxury property. With 360 tours, you viewers are able to experience an innovative, fully immersive walkthrough of your property. Simply speaking, your property will get the exposure it deserves!
A beautiful property deserves a beautiful tour. With TourRhino, making a great tour is easy. Once you've got your camera (link), arranged a scheduled shooting time with your property (link), then you are ready to shoot your first tour. Here's seven best practices to follow to ensure your final tour is TourRhino quality.
1.) Take photos - and take backups!
360 cameras are great. They allow you a one-click method of taking 360 photos. Sometimes, however, these photos will blur at the sides the image where the front and back lenses "stitch" their respective photos together. You can mitigate this by taking duplicate photos - simply offset the camera a few degrees, click, and have a backup in case your original falls prey to this dreaded blur.
2.) Make use of HDR.
HDR stands for High-Dynamic-Range Imaging. Traditional photos are taken at a single exposure point. HDR, on the other hand, aims to offer a more dynamic range of luminosity than is possible with standard digital imaging or photographic techniques - and its built right into your camera. The aim is to present a similar range of luminance to that experienced through the human visual system. It takes a single photo at several different exposures, and takes the brightest colors from each. For example, it will take the darkest darks from the low exposure photo, and the lightest lights from the high exposure photo. The result is eye-popping beauty, ready for a TourRhino tour!
3.) Use a timer.
Pay special attention to take yourself out of view of the lenses when taking the photo. We find that using a tripod and a five second shutter delay is all it takes to take great photos. Simply take a photo and hide behind the corner. And watch out for mirrors! Following this simple rule is probably the most important of any commercial-ready tour.
4.) Smile and say thank you.
A little manners go a long way. Be sure to check out our other article on shooting ettiquette to ensure that you make the most of your time on the property. Being on-site is a great opportunity to build a great product - your tour - but it is also a great opportunity to build relationships. Showing kindness, courtesy, patience, and flexibility will ensure that you are invited back to the next property.
6.) Take advantage of TourRhino's ColorPop(c)!
Did you know that most foods are (unfortunately) injected with dyes to make them more appetizing to the average consumer? Bright, beautiful colors sell! Consider using our ColorPop service to make your photos shine to the highest degree. We have found even HDR photos are great candidates for this service. Seeing is believing:
7.) Upload to the TourRhino Creator(c) platform
After shooting your tour, you're finally ready to output it into a world-class 3D experience. Simply get the photos to your phone or computer, logon to app.TourRhino.com, Upload, and Click Go!
